6 Months!

On Wednesday I had my 24 week check-up.  It was the first time I went by myself because Rob had to work, but it was the quickest trip yet so he didn't really miss out on anything exciting.  Everything is looking absolutely perfect.  I am measuring exactly 24 weeks which makes me feel much better since I was measuring a week behind at my last appointment.  I got to hear my little girl's heartbeat, and it is a strong 160 bpm, a little higher than last time.  It was pretty funny because the second Dr. Salus put the doppler on my tummy, I felt her kick really hard.  Apparently she wanted to be known!

Everything else has been pretty easy breezy.  I have noticed that I am starting to get leg cramps at night, but usually only happens if I don't drink water (or take my TUMS).  I also think the exhaustion is starting to kick back in because I can barely keep my eyes open anymore.

Cravings I've been having this week are anything cold!  This includes ice cream, decaf frappuccinos, and crushed ice cubes, which happen to be my favorite night time snack.  Hopefully I'm not indulging too much, but what they heck, I'm pregnant and when will I ever be able to get away with this again in my life? Exactly.

Can't believe I'm already 6 months this week!  Next month marks the beginning of my third trimester, and hopefully it'll be smooth sailing!  Can not wait to be a mommy! :)

Bargain Shopping

First of all...July is practically around the corner, and you have no idea how excited Rob and I are getting each day that gets closer and closer to my due date.  It also means that there is still SO much that we need to do before she comes!  We already have many of the big ticket items marked off our list, mostly nursery furniture, so at least baby has a place to sleep.  But looking at all of the things that we still need to get is starting to make me feel like we will never be able to afford everything!  I never knew that a tiny little baby could be so expensive.  So, I've been trying to find ways to save as much money as possible while making sure our little girl has everything she needs (as well as making sure she looks super cute!)

I decided to run a couple of errands today, and I stumbled upon a hidden gem, a store called Trendy Tots.  It is a consignment shop located in Algonquin right off of Huntley and Randall Road that sells children's items from newborn all the way to teen.  I've driven past it many times, and like many first time moms kept going because the thought of putting my brand new baby in somebody else's used clothes made me feel like a terrible mother. So, after reading many blogs about bargain shopping, and realizing that buying secondhand isn't as bad as I assumed it to be, I stopped by this lovely little shop.

I was amazed at the quality and quantity of baby items this store had to offer.  Most of the clothes still have tags on them and have never been worn and cost close to nothing!  I was expecting to find clothing that had been worn and pooped on and ripped, but nothing like this.  They also have toys, bedding, strollers, bouncy chairs, books, highchairs, and it all looks BRAND NEW at a fraction of the cost.  I was so excited to find such a treasure chest that I couldn't wait to come home and share it with anyone I could think of who needs quality baby stuff and doesn't have hundreds of dollars to spend on it.

So, if you are looking to save some extra money, stop in to this little place. This is their web address: www.trendytotsconsignmentshop.com

If you don't live in the area, I highly recommend you check out baby consignment shops in your area.  It's completely worth it!

I got all of this for under 20 bucks!

Tiny Kicks of Love

I was getting worried around 19 weeks when I hadn't felt any movement from the tiny human inside.  But a few days after our ultrasound, I definitely started feeling something different in my belly.  It felt like little air bubbles popping low in my stomach.  Now at 21 weeks, I can actually feel her kicking from the outside.  I was so overwhelmed the first time I felt this, that I got a little emotional.  It was the most amazing feeling I've ever felt before. I did feel a little guilty because I had this special moment and bond, and I knew that Rob wouldn't be able to share these feeling with me quite yet.

I was very determined for daddy to be able to feel his little girl move.  So, right before Rob and I went to sleep the other night, I decided to play some music to see if that would get her going. We started with some classical music and waited...nothing.  Rob had an idea to play some techno music (of course). So we put the music up to my belly and within seconds, Rob felt his very first kick!  She was dancing all over the place! Rob was so excited!

I can't wait for all of the other firsts to come from our growing girl!
