The ultrasound technician was very quick, and made sure to point out all of the body parts and checking to make sure each one was measuring appropriately. Baby has 2 legs, 2 arms, 2 kidneys, 4 heart chambers, brain growth, a stomach, lungs, a spinal cord and a...VAGINA!!! She asked us probably 3 or 4 times during the ultrasound if we wanted to know the gender. She must have had a slip up and accidentally spilled the beans to someone who did NOT want to know. But there it was, in all it's glory.
Once we heard our "it" was now a girl, I was beside myself and couldn't help but shed a tear or two. I knew it was a girl from day one, and I'm glad I stuck with my gut. Rob, on the other hand, kept questioning the ultrasound tech and really wanted to make sure that there was in fact, no penis. He is very happy to know that he will soon have his "little princess."
Everything else is great! I am measuring a week early, so instead of 20 weeks 3 days, I am 19 weeks 3 days. Doctor still has our due date for July 7, 2012 so I'm gonna say I'm still 20 weeks.
As soon as we got in the car, we called our parents. They seem pretty excited, although my dad replied with "Oh great, you mean another woman in the family?" And Rob's dad said, "You know, not all Patrick men are hung like horses, so it could still be a boy." Always a fun reaction from the dads.
Anyway, here we are...knowing that there is not only a baby, but a baby girl growing inside of me. Everything is different now. I feel so much closer to my sweet little baby now that I have this extra piece of information. I can't wait to learn more about her in the many years to come.
We do have a name, but that will be kept secret until she makes her first appearance in this world. (Sorry, but we need at least one surprise!)
So excited for you guys! She's going to be gorgeous! Love that you have a blog now, too! Follow mine, too!
